Over the past few months many have attempted to decipher the reason 10-year yields have continued to fall. We were among those who believed the drop in yields was temporary and non-transitory inflation would reassert itself. But now it appears as though falling yields are actually signaling a dramatic slowing in the economy, led by the surging delta variant.
The Fed's holdings of Treasury securities continues to grow and remains larger than all other central banks' holdings combined.
