Inflation Watch Update
The attached tables update inflation rates through October 2006. In this month’s update, we discuss how the significant drop in motor fuel prices and other components of the Transportation sub-index mask a continued push higher in the CPI ex-Energy. If the Federal Reserve remains data-driven in its approach to inflation management, it is likely to remain biased toward higher short-term rates.
